- You say Prince Norodom Sihanouk refers to his country as
- Cambodia if he is speaking in English, Cambodge in French and
- Kampuchea in Khmer (WORLD, June 19). There is nothing strange
- in that. How do Poles refer to the U.S.? Stany Zjednoczone, of
- course. Italians say Stati Uniti, and if Poles mention Italy,
- it is Wlochy. Finns don't know they live in Finland; they think
- they're in Suomi. And Hungarians are positive that Budapest is
- in Magyarorszag. The problem lies with Americans who don't know
- what foreign languages are all about.
